Apr 2000
Let’s see, sitting here in February writing for April. If only the school year had gone like that, February in New Haven would have been so much more pleasant.
On the late-breaking news front, William Bogaty, former shoveler in this space, was given a farewell evening in Washington, DC, in late February. On hand for the doin’s at Nora’s were organizer James Schweitzer, and Vanda and Rob High. Bogaty then moved to Tokyo with wife Helen and their two daughters. He has been named CFO of Exxon/Mobil in Asia.
Also on the globalization scene, we recently heard from Jose Bernal, who wrote the following from Bogota, Colombia. “I have been married now for 26 years and have two daughters who are now a biologist and an economist. I worked for IBM Colombia during 20 years but left the firm six years ago as a consequence of one of the now-frequent management realignments of the business. I work now as a professor and research fellow in the field of finance in the Universidad Central (a local private university). Unfortunately my country is going through very difficult times both economically and politically, but we keep hoping for better times. Regards to all my friends.”
Not much else in the mailbag this month. Some classmates will be meeting in New Orleans at the end of April for a mini-reunion. If you have a last-minute interest, contact John Gazzoli to see if you can attend.
