Internet Pioneer Now Digitizing Our College Years

Shortly after leaving Yale and completing graduate work at MIT, Harry Forsdick (PC) joined the engineering firm creating the hardware, software and communication protocols for ARPANET, the predecessor and testbed for the Internet. In semi-retirement, he now has a business that scans pictures and converts films, videos and audio tapes — and is busily converting items from our undergrad years into digital form for us to share and enjoy in the new ARCHIVES section of the website.

Great Name Choice

While not a Calhoun College alumnus, I do appreciate that a name change is jarring for some.  However, I want to say that I am delighted with the choice of Grace Murray Hopper.  I met her once, near the end of her life, when she spoke to a computer group in the Boston area.  She was an important pioneer in the field.  President Salovey’s letter described some of her accomplishments but left out some.  She…
