Chasing Coral Screening Times At The Reunion
You may recall that our very own Dr. James Porter (SM ‘69, Ph.D. ’73) was the Chief Scientific Advisor and a Principal Cast Member on Chasing Coral, a film which won an Emmy for Outstanding Nature Documentary. See “Jim Porter’s Film Wins Emmy.”
Good news! If you want to watch it, it will be screened on a large TV monitor in Davenport Common Room.
Actually, it will be screened several times:
- Friday
- 9:00 – 10:30
- 3:45-5:15 (with an audience Q&A afterward)
- Saturday
- 10:30-12:00
- 12:30-2:00
- 2:00-3:30
So, if you want to see it, please mark your calendars. Those who have seen it says it makes a powerful impact. It aligns nicely with several other reunion programs re: the environment, too.
Not only did the film win an Emmy, it also was recognized with an Audience Choice Award at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival and had been conferred a 2017 Peabody Award.
“The Emmy was thrilling enough,” Porter said, “but winning all three of these awards was the journalistic equivalent of horseracing’s Triple Crown. It was stunning and deeply gratifying.”
Great stuff! Thanks and will definitely watch and look forward to chatting with Jim.
