Re-releasing your music using new digital editing tools

Michael Folz and wife Maureen have been working and re-working some of their songs using some of the newer recording and engineering technology.  And it’s mind-blowing … well, more ear-blowing.

Compare, for example “Right Through My Heart” from 2015 vs. the revision of the same song they created a couple months ago,  The 2015 version was the original recording.  No overdubs, etc.  Maureen’s voice, totally plain.

Their friend Sam, a recording engineer and songwriter in an earlier incarnation, had given up on the music scene about 30 years ago.  Recently, Mike’s pressure on Sam to get back to music succeeded, and Sam was amazed at what you can do now with the new “AI influenced” technologies.

Sam took the original recordings and edited them with the new technologies; he and Michael added some video editing, some harmonic overlays and created the “2023 Version” above.  You can hear the differnence youself.

“In my dotage, I’m really enjoying our return to songwriting and performance,” says Michael. “Luckily, Maureen can still deliver powerful, precise vocals, and the new technolies make this fun.

We profiled some recent releases last summer in this blog post.  And you can check out their latest in this YouTube video:
