Class dues has generated news, with a reunion flavor:

Tom Earley writes: “As always, Jane and I had a great time at the reunion. Each time we make another few new friends. My food and agriculture practice keeps chugging along. Jane’s consulting practice focuses on standards development in international law, both trade and environmental. Caitlin (Williams ’01) is now working on a PhD in Meso-American art history at the University of Texas. While she turned down Yale for both the undergraduate and PhD programs, I’m hoping she will think differently about a faculty position. Nick (UC–Santa Cruz ’03) is an environmental educator in Sonoma County and has clearly been captured by the ambiance of the West Coast. We’re always happy to see visiting classmates. We’re a stone’s throw from Mount Vernon in northern Virginia.”

Michael Baum (mhbaum@gmail.com) writes, a little testily: “Enjoyed the 40th but disappointed that there weren’t more of us there. What are you waiting for, guys—the 50th? Not to be morbid, fellows, but the actuarial tables say that in ten years another 7 to 10 percent of us won’t be around to reune with. There were already too many names on the ‘shortest gladdest years’ roster in June. So let’s make it to the 45th, at least, while we are still in our seventh decades. And that means you, [names suppressed by your scribe]; the list goes on, but you know who you are! Reunions are a lot of fun, guys, really. Even if you are mad at Yale, come for the laughs. I guarantee we all look just as old as you do, if not older.” Note from your scribe: The date will be late May or early June 2014, if you want to mark your calendars now.

William “Rusty” Park (wwpark@bu.edu) writes: “Recently the London Court of International Arbitration elected me as its president. This is the first time an American has held the position.”

Robert Kuhbach (rkuhbach@gmail.com) writes: “I retired on December 1, 2009, after nearly 17 years at Dana Corporation—first as VP, general counsel, and secretary for almost ten ten years, then seven years as VP-finance and chief financial officer. I am looking forward to a very active ‘next career.’”

The mailbox is now officially empty!

“Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.” —Marcus Aurelius
