Second Call: All Classmate Musicians
Second call…
CALLING ALL CLASSMATE MUSICIANS:
WE WANT TO HEAR YOU PERFORM!
As previously reported, we will have fun music at the reunion. By classmates. Yes, YOU!
- We will have two “Street” Pianos in the tent at TD. Folks can just play a bit as they feel like it, while walking by, whether to entertain friends, jam or just communicate their thoughts. This is similar to what you see at train stations, parks, plazas, especially in Europe.
- We are going to enjoy more music played by classmates after dinner on Saturday, including a “pop-up” band. Look in your closet for your guitar, cello or saxophone. We have had some offers to participate, and we are looking for more.
Eliot Norman, our highly accomplished piano player, will lead the way. He will open with a piece or two, including tangos. Then, with your participation, he will lead a group playing Jazz Waltz No. 2 by Shostakovich. This piece is not hard to play, and it can even be done as a sing-along. You may know it from a waltz scene in the movie Anna Karenina.
Eliot and some of his friends recently did the Waltz/Singalong at a concert in Richmond, and all had fun. Click HERE to see a clip (Eliot is playing the piano) and imagine what we can do.
From there, we are looking for volunteers. Eliot has offered to accept offers and match up interests. So, if you have a violin piece looking for a piano player, or a group that needs a guitar, please contact Eliot. Don’t be shy. After all, there is safety and fun in numbers!
[Please note, we DO want to know ahead of time who wants to perform, so we can plan and manage the event!]
For more info or to suggest some tunes that you and friends want to play, whether Jazz, Rock, Classical, Pop, please email Eliot at eliotnorman1948@gmail.com, or give him a call at 804-721-7851.
