In my entry for the 25th reunion, I wrote about my marriage to Joyce. We were deeply in love. Joyce died of cancer on October 2, 2003. Words cannot describe this shattering experience, so I will not try. With the help of friends, I established an endowed professorship in Joyce’s name at the Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital, where she was on staff as a psychiatrist.
The next couple of years are something of a blur.
However, it turned out that good fortune had not deserted me. I met Donna M. Staton, a pediatrician, and we fell in love. We were married on May 14, 2010.
Donna has given me a second chance. A sweet, gentle, and generous person, Donna is devoted to the cause of global child health. She was recently given an award from the American Academy of Pediatrics for a lifetime of service to this cause.
We are now living in Los Altos Hills, California, an altogether beautiful town, and are enjoying a very nice life together.
