Bob Alexander passed away at home in Larkspur, California on Sunday morning, July 25th, 2004 after a yearlong battle with cancer. He was 56.
The eldest son of Margaret S. and Donald C. Alexander, Bob was born in Clarksville, Tennessee and grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio.
He graduated from The Choate School in Wallingford, Connecticut, cum laude from Yale University, and magna cum laude from the Harvard Law School where he was Editor, Harvard Law Review 1971-1972.
Upon graduating from Yale, he married Rosalie Clifford Bailey of Middletown, Ohio. They were married for 35 years.
A partner at the San Francisco law firm of Heller, Ehrman, White, and McAuliffe for 25 years, he co-chaired the Tax Practice Group.
Bob was a photographer, naturalist, birder, hiker and a gardener. He particularly enjoyed Rose’s classical piano playing. He served on the Vestry of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in San Rafael, California.
Bob is survived by his wife, Rose, his younger brother, Jim Alexander of New Haven, Connecticut, and by his father, Donald C. Alexander of Washington, D.C. His mother, Margaret S. Alexander, predeceased him.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 31st at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in San Rafael, California. In lieu of flowers, Bob requested that donations be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, San Rafael, California, or to the Harvard University Law School, or to Yale University.
