Roger Haile – 50th Reunion Essay
Roger Haile
College: Timothy Dwight
Regarding a personal essay, my sense is that a full spectrum of responses serves the 50th reunion book and this is what is keeping me in the game. I imagine that I am not alone in having feelings of ambivalence and indifference and instead prefer to think that feeling a sense of brotherhood as a member of the class of 1969 now is what counts most. We were there and now we are here, all by different routes. For this I am grateful. Thinking about how Yale played a part in the navigation, I am amazed at how relevant the ideas of Light and Truth have been throughout the years of my activities as a visual artist, literally and figuratively. Just not sure I have quite lived up to Kingman Brewster’s expectations uttered in Woolsey Hall those first days.
If the above is blank, no 50th reunion essay was submitted.
