Our Class of 1969 Scholar is once again Vincent Tanutama ’16. He is from Jakarta, Indonesia. A TD resident, he is studying engineering, math, economics, and philosophy. He is the first member of his family to attend college.
Rob Brodsky ’84 has a website, Yalie.com, which is devoted to highlighting the work of Yale alumni. “The site, which is officially licensed by Yale, makes it easy for Yale alumni to learn who has published books recently, by class year as well as by name and categories. Alumni can create profile pages for themselves under listings for authors, artists, entrepreneurs, professionals, leaders, and teachers. The site also features Yale-licensed products and convenient links to all Yale a cappella groups. The site currently lists books by the following Class of 1969 authors: Richard Breitman, Robert Haas, Eric Muirhead, Randolph Schiffer, and Jeff Wheelwright.”
The New York Times reports the marriage in May of Stephen Billick to Bruce Yolton in New York, at L’église Française du Saint-Esprit. The Rt. Rev. Mark S. Sisk, the former Episcopal bishop of New York, performed the ceremony. Steve is a clinical professor of psychiatry at NYU and a lecturer in psychiatry at Columbia. Bruce is a vice president for information technology at Macmillan. Félicitations!
It is quite likely that the estimable Lang Wheeler will once again host a pre-Game gathering at his house in Cambridge on Saturday morning November 22. Your scribe has always found this to be a congenial assembly of classmates, with delectable food and live a cappella Yale music. What follows after, in the confines of that stadium in Allston, Massachusetts, is another matter. One can only hope, the hope “which smiles from the threshold of the year to come.”
Frank Shorter was honored on May 10 as Yale’s “Greatest Track & Field Athlete.” Present or speaking on his behalf at the ceremony were Larry Kreider, Carl Pierce, Steve Bittner, Mark Young, and Bob Yahn. In addition to winning gold and silver at the 1972 and 1976 Olympics, Frank also won 24 national championships. (Your scribe lifted this information from the Class of 1973 Notes column.)
The mailbag is once again empty. Please write!
