Ticket To The Opera
JE has a small endowment of its own, and one of the benefits of that endowment is having season tickets to one box seat very close to the stage at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. You can apply to get tickets and the Master’s office distributes them. Once, I “won” the ticket, took the train down to Grand Central and taxied over to Lincoln Center. I have no recollection of which opera I saw, but I do remember concluding, after sitting through the performance, that I was NOT an opera fan.
I decided that ballet was more to my taste, having gotten cheap student tickets to see Rudolph Nureyev and Margot Fonteyn dance the year before.
I’d be really interested in hearing from other people who attended the Opera using the JE tickets. Leave your thoughts in “reply” below … or create a “Memories and Observations” post of your own.
