Wentworth Earl Miller, Jr.
Wentworth Earl Miller, Jr., fondly known as Earl by family, peacefully passed away on March 17, 2024, at the age of 76 following a long and courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his beloved 99-year-old mother, two sisters, seven brothers, three children, and five grandchildren.
Went was a graduate of Yale University and Yale Law School, a Rhodes Scholar, and the creator of LEEWS (Legal Essay Exam Writing Seminar), a very successful law preparation business. He was not only a pillar of his family, but also a beacon of light in his Lancaster, PA community. Whether lending a helping hand to a neighbor or passionately advocating for justice, his presence was felt far and wide.
Editor’s Note from Henry Fuller: Earl had battled cancer for several years. Earl was in Silliman, a Rhodes Scholar, graduate of Yale Law School, and after working, I believe, in the AG’s office in NYC started his own business called, LEEWS, that provided counsel to aspiring lawyers taking law boards.
Tom Cosgrove and his wife, Marylin, flew up from Florida to provide palliative care for Earl during his dying days.
Went embodied the spirit of resilience and tenacity in the face of adversity. Went’s favorite phrase about life was, “It’s something to do.” A prolific writer, his sharp wit, profound intellect, and legacy will live on and continue to inspire all who knew him.
In remembrance of Went’s remarkable life, donations may be made to the Thaddeus Stevens Society, a cause that was near and dear to his heart. https://www.thaddeusstevenssociety.com

Went.
To me, a new Lancaster Downtowner, a puzzling name, that became a familiar recognition of a kind fellow-Downtowner, who readily agreed to help this lady clean her carpets. He wanted ‘something to do’ and willingly offered to help. I deeply appreciated his work as well as his stimilating casual conversation.
Little did I know, carpet cleaning is a service not usually offered by the Downtowner Organization!
We miss kind, helpful Went.
My sincere condolences to his outstanding and loving family. To God Be the Glory.Dr Linda S. Cameron
What a fine man, with an extra fine mind!!!
Amazing spirit.
Went helped us out a number of times with household maintenance and moving furniture, as a Lancaster Downtowners volunteer. I always enjoyed his quick mind and thoughtful conversation, and will miss him. Blessings as you grieve his loss.
I am sorry that I was not able to see Went (Earl) before he joined the spirit world. I visited him in at his home in Lancaster several times. Due to my busy travel schedule, the last visit was on Feb 26, 2024 where we sat on the porch together with his sister from NJ. It was a lovely spring day. He was clear and insightful about his impending death. He was a generous, multi-faceted, acerbic man with a great gift for the gab. He taught me a lot about the world. I will miss him.
Our sincerest condolences to the extended Miller family. May you continue to celebrate Earl’s life every day; may his memory be a blessing to you all.
My sincerest condolences 🙏 to the family of Wentworth Earl Miller Jr. You don’t know me, but I am a friend and sometimes trav companion of Michael Oden and Alina Ugas . I am also a big fan of Wentworth Miller his son the actor. I may not know how you the family deals with the transition of a loved one from life to death, because I have dealt with quite a few myself. But from my heart ❤ to yours, may Wentworth Miller Earl Jr. be rocked and resting peacefully in the arms of Abraham.
Went very kindly helped me through the Lancaster Downtowners JOC service. I did not know that he was ill.
Dan and I always looked forward to his annual visits to the Oden family. We are you you our heartfelt condolences to you all.
