The 2019 Whiffenpoofs To Join Us For Brunch In Boston in November

Confirmed: The 2019 Whiffenpoofs will serenade us during the brunch before The Game in Fenway Park, Boston, on November 17th.  This continues a multi-decade tradition of the Whiffs or Whim’n’Rhythm singing at the biennial brunch in our Cambridge home on those years when The Game is played at Harvard.

The brunch will be held at The Hawthorne, an upscale bar/restaurant that we have rented for a “private event” prior to the Yale-Harvard Game.  The food is being catered by the Hawthorne’s sister restaurant, Eastern Standard, which wins all sorts of awards.  Open bar.   Beautiful venue.  And the Hawthorne is very close to both the Kenmore stop on the Green Line “T” and to Fenway Park, where The Game will be.  Kickoff is at noon.  Brunch starts at 9:30 AM.

Especially given the lack of parking and tailgating at Fenway, it’ll serve as a great place to assemble before The Game.

A few tickets are still available to The Game … and to the brunch.  See the bottom of the event page to get your tickets.

The 2019 Whiffenpoofs

The Whiffs are coming to Boston to participate in some musical events at Harvard the night before.  They’ll perform in concert at 7 pm at First Church Cambridge with the Whim ‘n Rhythm, the Harvard Krokodiloes and the Radcliffe Pitches.

This year marks a historic shift in tradition.  In February, the group announced that they would admit singers based not on gender, but on the “TTBB” (Tenor I and II, Baritone and Bass) standards within the world of a cappella singing. The resulting group of exceptionally talented 2019 seniors includes Sofia Campoamor, a Tenor I, and the first-ever female member of the Whiffenpoofs. We’ll be able to hear Sofia sing in the November that marks the 50th anniversary of Co-Ed Week.
