Still ’69: Save the Dates for Our 58th Reunion & 80th Birthday Party

Still curious. Still connected. Still ’69.

Why wait for the 60th reunion?

In September 2027, we’ll have been out of Yale for 58 years—and most of us will be somewhere around 80. That seemed to us like two very good reasons to get together.

But this won’t simply be another reunion or a collective birthday party. It’s a chance to celebrate something rather remarkable: nearly six decades of different lives and different journeys, and the friendships and shared experiences that still connect us as the Yale Class of 1969.

Last year we asked whether classmates might be interested. The response was an emphatic yes. Then 121 classmates responded to our planning survey and helped us begin turning the idea into an event.

So now it’s official: Save September 15–17, 2027.
We’re going back to New Haven.

When?

Note:  There was a similarly strong showing for the next weekend,
but a slight preference for the earlier dates.  So,

Wednesday, 9/15/2027 through Friday, 9/17, it is!

Save the dates!

Where?

Because Yale is in session, we can’t stay in the colleges.  The Omni will reserve a block of rooms for us and can support even a large group.  Most people would stay at the Omni:

We were delighted to see all the volunteers willing to help, either with their reactions/opinions/advice or for doing the active planning and maybe lending a hand with some well-defined tasks:

What kind of celebration will it be?

That’s the fun part we’re beginning to work on now.

We have the basic architecture, and an enthusiastic group of classmates has volunteered to help shape the program. Over the coming months, we’ll be asking what would make these two days worth the trip—not simply another reunion program, but an opportunity to reconnect with people we’ve known for much of our lives, renew some friendships, discover others, tell a few stories, and make some new ones.

More details about the program, accommodations, and registration are coming soon. For now, there’s only one thing to do:

Save the dates: September 15–17, 2027.

Maybe pencil in the weekend, too, and stay in NH for football, or other Fall-weekend stuff. And start thinking about the classmates you’d especially like to see there.
