Allen Harrison Cromer, Jr. – 50th Reunion Essay

Allen Harrison Cromer, Jr.

Date of Death: 16-Feb-2001

College: Ezra Stiles

From Andrew Popper: Allen, my freshman year roommate, was a genuinely gracious person. He was modest, warm-hearted, and fully at ease with himself. At a time when Yale’s dominant culture was macho to excess, and soft-spoken, unpretentious students were easy targets for baiting and bullying, Allen didn’t project the least amount of discomfort. I regret not getting to know him better, though we remained friends for the rest of college. And though we didn’t stay in touch, I remember him as a person of keen intellect and solid character.
