The Spiders’ Way: An Introduction to Jonathan Edwards College

We are delighted to announce a second printing of the new history of the College. The first printing of The Spiders’ Way: An Introduction to Jonathan Edwards College, Yale University was quickly exhausted by its enthusiastic readership, but copies are again available.

Sponsored by the Jonathan Edwards Trust, The Spiders’ Way features a historical account by three former administrators who know the College intimately: former Heads Gary Haller and Penelope Laurans and former Dean Mark Ryan.

Ninety reminiscences by alumni, fellows and former staff, extending back to the 1940s, provide a vivid portrait of life in the College over the decades.

In all of this, you’ll find accounts of the opening of the College in 1933; the architecture, facilities, and traditions; contributions of Heads of College; co-education and the College’s ever-growing social diversity; its cultural, organizational, and social life; activities of its alumni in the world—plus tales of colorful fellows, mentorship, friendships, romances, and other memorable encounters, both serious and frivolous. Illustrated with historical and contemporary photographs in black and white and color, this hardbound volume is beautifully designed by Miko McGinty, JE ’93 and Julia Ma, JE ’18.

The Spiders’ Way is not for sale but will be gifted in exchange for a donation to the Jonathan Edwards Trust. It can be requested through the Trust’s website: https://jespiders.org/.

In celebration of the JE community,

W. Mark Saltzman
Head of College
