The ‘ancient but dazzling’ members of the Boston-area classmates from the Class of 1969 reconvened once again in a reprise of last Fall’s gathering at Boston’s Union Club. This time, however, we shed that venue’s shabby-chic rooms for the gloriously renovated Cambridge home of Carol and Joe Green, as gentle and genteel hosts as we could ever hope for.

A good time was had by all!
(John O’Leary, Rich Huttner, Jackie Bell, JJ Bell, Jean-Pierre Jordan)

How graciously did they welcome us with open arms, and what a sumptuous brunch did they spread before us! For a few languid hours we were made to feel like gods, each of us content in the pleasure of our classmates’ company.

Sparkling conversation and spicy wit abounded.

Name cards were bestowed on us as we arrived in a ceremony reminiscent of a medal-pinning by the French Legion d’Honneur, including air kisses on both cheeks and faux-military salutes.

While we chatted and wandered around the house and gardens, we tasted the ambrosia of champagne and the manna of canapés served by itinerant waiters, elegantly attired. We then were invited to the brunch tables, where we tucked into various exquisitely prepared brunch dishes, all the while engaging in convivial conversation.

All too soon, however, we came to realize that our time together was running short, and that we would soon part. Sadly, after coffee we did, promising to meet again, without knowing where or when. And for that eventuality, JP Jordan, our Class party organizer and Reunion co-Chair, collected all the name cards, fully intending to reuse them the next time.
