After graduating from Yale, I taught in New York City at a private boys’ school for two years. The very first Friday night I met my wife at a cocktail party. She happened to be from New Haven (Vassar ’72), so my life in New Haven took another turn. We were married by Sid Lovett three years later in the chapel on the old campus with many Yalies in attendance. Our rehearsal dinner of course was at Mory’s. We returned to New Haven for many happy weekends during those years.

Fast-forward to 1999 and my youngest child was accepted to Yale. She graduated on schedule in 2003. She loved Yale and was fortunate enough to play on the Women’s Field Hockey team, which won the ECACs. A remarkable feat.

Fast-forward once again to June of 2015, and our oldest child, Scott, was accepted by Yale New Haven Hospital where he earned his fellowship in retina care. He spent two years in New Haven and loved it. It was amazing to visit him and witness the renewal of downtown New Haven in the past few years. The downtown scene is fun with many great restaurants and young people living near the Taft Hotel.

My wife Betty and I live in New York City (where we have pretty much lived most of our lives). Our three children live in the city, which is wonderful. We have not slowed down much as both of us work, my wife in education and I in finance. We manage time to get away to a myriad of places we like but find that keeping going is the best antidote to old age.
