The Engineer As Artist When Older

When the Reunion Committee recruited me and Harry Forsdick to be webmasters of this site, it was because we brought some technical chops to the table.  I had run some e-commerce and Internet-dependent businesses, and Harry is/was true engineering talent.  (He worked on developing the Internet itself in the early ’70s as an engineer with the principal engineering firm responsible for what was then ARPAnet.)

Little did I or the Reunion Committee know, but Harry has been exploring painting and watercolors since phasing out his engineering and management work … and getting darned good at it.

His achievements (so far) are now being recognized, and he has been invited to show his work professionally, launching today at the Lexington Community Center (39 Marrett Rd, Lexington, MA).

The exhibit will run through New Year’s Eve.  And it’s already garnering praise from local critics.

There will be a reception on Friday, November 16th, from 5 PM to 7 PM, celebrating the opening Harry’s work, which is part of a series called Art@Cary.   All Boston area alums who are not going to the Yale-Harvard Glee Club concert, and dinner beforehand, that evening are invited and welcome to attend.

Harry has created a webpage showing many of the recent pieces to be shown at the Exhibit, the following two just being some examples:
