Grew up without seatbelts. It has continued to work pretty well for me… Deerfield Academy required a combination of duplicity, decent grades, and dumb luck to prevent expulsion. Yale in the ’60s bridged boundaries and near total freedom… adios grades, hello drugs, sex, and crazy good music. Later choices varied… hated medical school, loved residency training… married a hippy chick, turned evangelical… didn’t love my work or my life until 50. But, have experienced the incredible joys of parenting, leadership in my profession, and the love of the right person (took 70 years)… It’s been good, guys… and, yes, I crashed my Porsche into a truck last year and walked away (I was wearing my seatbelt).
