New Class Website Launched

Over 9 months in the making, the new Class Website, Yale1969.org, is ready for use  by the class.  Access is limited to members of the Class of 1969 only. Here is a summary of key features:

Classmates Functions

  • Find a classmate – by college, by major, by extracurricular activity … or by using the search box in the masthead banner.
  • Missing classmates – a list of Classmates for whom we have no email. (Can you help? If so, send us an email address for a missing Classmate; AYA may have phone or mailing address, but we need email address)
  • Deceased Classmates – a list of those who have passed on.
  • Profiles – Each Classmate has a “Profile” … a page that summarizes their Yale years and some of their post-Yale lives.  Each Profile is pre-populated with information from the Banner and the Old Campus, with links to the 25th Reunion Essays, if the Classmate submitted one.  As Classmates  join the site and update their Profiles, the site will become richer and more interesting.  (Update your profile now! Learn how by watching the Explanatory Video page.)

Informational Posts

A “post” is an article, a story or  a webpage.  What you are reading now is a post, and it appears in the “News” category.  At present here are four existing categories of posts:

NEWS – “News” includes news from Yale about something that affects our Class, Class events, major news about Classmates and “Announcements” — like “New Website Is Launched.”

CLASS NOTES – These are the columns that appear in the Yale Alumni Magazine bimonthly.  From 2017 onwards, our online version of Class Notes includes pictures and links of interest.

IN MEMORIAM – One post per deceased Classmate, with obituary-like details and the opportunity, in the “Comments” field, for friends to remember them.

POTPOURRI – This is a new category of posts that are of interest but don’t fit into any of the other categories.  Life events, reunion developments, vignettes from our years at Yale … fun miscellany of all sorts.

MEMORIES AND OBSERVATIONS – These are posts created by Classmates to express something they want to say about their residential college, their major or any of the activities they participated in.

College, Major And Extracurricular Pages

Under “Class” on the menu bar at the top, you’ll see

  • College” which lists all the residential colleges; clicking on one takes you to a home page for that college.
  • Major” which lists all the academic majors; clicking on one takes you to a home page for that major.
  • Activity” which lists all the extracurricular activities; clicking on one takes you to a home page for that activity.

Each of these “home pages” lists all the Classmates associated with the college, major and activity, and a space for leaving “Memories and Observations” posts related to that college, major or activity.  Check it out.

Publications

Our Yale was pre-Internet, but your Class Leadership has aggressively sought to digitize content from our era and present it for your reading pleasure here.  Not only can you “flip through” Class Notes back to 1995 (and soon all the way to 1969), the Old Campus, the Yale Banner and our 25th Reunion ClassBook, but we have some other items of interest coming soon!  Stay tuned for more!
