New Release: “If I Were To Call You”

    ByAdmin June 28, 2023July 1, 2023

Michael Folz and his wife Maureen collaborated with our Norm Zamchek (piano) and Paul Severtson (violin) to produce — over the internet — an original that Michael wrote: If I Were To Call You. The production values are quite good, and it’s hosted here on Yale1969.org for your listening pleasure.

    ByAdmin June 26, 2023April 26, 2024

from Melissa S. Mundell, Lee’s wife: I just sent an email of an obituary for my husband, Lee Carter Mundell,  (See below) Afterwards I thought of some other things I should submit, in case they could be published as well. Lee worked at WYBC in those 1960s years when music was changing so dramatically. He did a morning show and someone he did not know left a sketch of him sitting at the broadcast desk,…

Jamie Woolery shares a personal wellness journey

    ByJamie Woolery June 26, 2023July 1, 2023

Editor’s Note: Jamie wanted to share his appreciation of some medical mentors and his regimen for optimizing his metabolic health.

The metabolic health which I am now blessed to enjoy by the grace of God is the consequence of my extremely careful following of the guidance of Dr. Andreas […]

    Reunion: YAA Lectures and Tours

    ByWayne Willis June 12, 2023July 9, 2024

[DRAFT] At every reunion, the YAA arranges Lectures, Tours and Receptions for all the Classes. Here is a list of of those events. I double-dare you to limit yourself to only four; most people want to clone themselves and attend several.

Some of our ’69ers said they were deeply impressed by events they attended. If so, please leave comments at the bottom of this or any post or send reactions, pix, reviews, links, etc., to support@Yale1969.org.
See “Also On Campus” for listings of athletic/exercise opportunities, exhibitions, receptions, special events, self-guided tours, religious services, open houses, etc.

    ByAdmin June 12, 2023June 13, 2024

Note: Even though classes were not in session, the YAA ensured that many of the University’s facilities were open and welcoming to our classmates.  In case you had forgotten all the incredible resources available to students, just consider the following list of special events, receptions, self-guided tours, athletic/exercise opportunities, religious services, meetups, open houses, exhibits, and just walking around (including access to the colleges).

Carlos Nicholas MacKechnie Hawkin, May 22, 2023

    ByWayne Willis May 22, 2023April 26, 2024

Nicholas (aka Nick) Hawkin was a bit older than the rest of us, and he carried himself with a grace and wit that were truly enviable.  His father was an Oxford grad and a British diplomat assigned to various offices in Mexico and South America.  His mother was Peruvian, and Nick was educated in South America and at boarding schools in England:  Elston Hall School, Nottinghamshire, England, and Ampleforth College, Ampleforth, England; Universite d’Aix-en-Provence, Jan.,…

Eliot Norman, Chopin and The Joy of Music

    ByArthur Segal May 21, 2023May 23, 2023

On May 16th, Classmate Eliot Norman shared his journey, moving from ‘one form of practice (law) to another (piano)‘ as his primary retirement activity. Organizing his remarks around Chopin’s astonishing Prelude No. 24, “Of Blood. Of Earthly Pleasure … of Death,” Eliot wove together Chopin’s personal journey and Eliot’s own. In truth, Eliot has played piano since early childhood, rendering it not only a lifelong avocation but an ongoing central theme to his life.  Piano…

    Class Website Gets Major Makeover

    ByWayne Willis May 19, 2023May 24, 2023

This website was started in 2016 to give the Class an online home in the runup to the 50th Reunion.  It proved to be popular and found renewed purpose after celebrating the 50th when the pandemic drove us all indoors and online, including to the wonderful series of Class Colloquia. But several issues and problems arose recently.  First, the “old site” was designed with a number of complex features that were difficult to maintain and…

    ByDaniel Seiver May 1, 2023July 3, 2023

From the Erie (PA) Times-News: “The Rev. John Randolph Elliott (“Randy”) was an extraordinary, ordinary man. Randy will be long remembered as a man of prayer with deep faith, warm spirit, unwavering integrity, rigorous self-discipline, large intellect, and contagious laughter most often heard with a big family that he loved and gave him great joy—a family eternally grateful for his presence in their lives. Indeed, he lived with eternity in his heart, and entered his…
