Calling For Class Council Volunteers
Yale Class of 1969
September 10, 2019
Dear Classmates,
We are still under the pleasurable influences of our 50th Reunion, the Classbook, and Class Newsletters. The cohesiveness and Class of 1969 consciousness, that re-formatted in the last
several years, continues to motivate the current Leadership, Reunion Planners, Class Officers, and College Captains to plan for an active future. Reunions every five years, regional mini-reunions, and cultural events will be part of our future. And a modified Newsletter is planned to keep Classmates notified and current.
To support these goals the Leadership is seeking interested Classmates to self-nominate themselves to be active participants in a newly updated Class Council. Such a Council would be the core driver of Class of 1969 activities and would encourage, promote, oversee, and co-manage Class events. They would also choose Class officers (Secretary/ies and Treasurer) Reunion Chairs, Corresponding Secretary, YAA representatives, and Mini-Reunion and event organizers. This form of class governance will assure broad participation, oversight, and organization. It requires, however, a commitment of some time and effort, though the efforts will be shared by all.
We currently need to nominate a Class Treasurer to replace Tom Emmons after his many years of service, and to recreate a Class Council of those willing to work on an agenda and future events.
We ask you to consider future service to your Class and self-nominate if you have the interest. Many Classmates at the 50th found their loyalty to the Class of 1969 re-energized by the various Reunion
events and the opportunities to make new or re-acquaint with existing friends. A renewed sense of community has been palpable.
This is the time and opportunity to step forward and play an active role in Class activities going forward. Please consider volunteering now, as a member of the new Class Council and/or as Class Treasurer.
You may convey your interest and comments to us by email at either of the addresses below.
We hope you’ll make the commitment. We need your participation!
