Announcing New MUSIC Section … And Others Coming Soon
Skimming through the Personal Essays that classmates wrote for the ClassBook and reviewing the “Profiles” here on Yale1969.org, it’s clear that many members of our class are VERY accomplished musicians … and wonderful authors, artists, dancers, poets, painters, novelists, playwrights, or sculptors.
We are going to create a SECTION of this website to showcase classmates’ creations, starting with this MUSIC section. So, welcome to the Yale Class of 1969 Music Section! (We will announce other sections, for books, graphical arts, etc., in the near future.)
The “Section Editor” for Music is John O’Leary, a man who is both an accomplished performing artist and an articulate observer of the role music has, and can have, in our lives: He had a band during our student days (remember The Morning?) and spent the 70’s in a variety of bands, or solo, doing concerts and club dates with folks like Joni Mitchell, Muddy Waters, Eric Clapton and The Grateful Dead.
In the late 80’s, after “megadoses of TM, est, yoga and macrobiotics,” John became an executive coach and corporate trainer, helping leaders get in touch with their own unifying principles and transcendent values … and thereby become more effective, more authentic, better leaders. See John’s BusinessLessonsFromRock.com for some trenchant observations about music as a channel to express and follow your highest values and deepest understandings.
Anyway, John appreciates all manner of musical expression and will be an excellent curator to showcase Classmates’ work here. Welcome, John!
