Dennis Drogseth (SY) Interviews Architect of Yale’s New Colleges

    ByPaul Field April 9, 2018April 22, 2023

Dennis Drogseth (SY ’69) recently interviewed Melissa DelVecchio (Yale, M.Arch 1998), the partner in the architectural firm that designed Yale’s two newest residential colleges. He sought, and got, an inside look into some of the personal and professional challenges in creating two new colleges.  The last time that happened was Eero Saarinen’s Morse and Stiles colleges in 1961. Drogseth, a technical analyst and author, is not an architect, but he admits he inherited a love for…

Avenging The 29-29 Tie in Fenway

    ByWayne Willis March 17, 2018April 22, 2023

In November, the Bulldogs have a chance to avenge the 29-29 tie we suffered 50 years ago and to do it in famous Fenway Park. Also, Lang Wheeler and the Reunion Committee are looking into ways to revise Lang’s biennial brunch on the Saturday of The Game, and hold it in or near Fenway.  And there may be some other festivities during the weekend.  So, Save The Date — weekend of November 17th.  And stay tuned!

    The Master’s Cat(s)

    ByDavid Wood March 9, 2018April 22, 2023

GooGoo  originated a kind of #MeToo movement among some who had the opportunity of his imposing himself on them. Apparently there was another cat, a female. HoHo (Horace Jr) rushed into the office one day and excitedly announce to Dean Porter that “Something’s wrong with the cat; you have to come help.” Off they went. Later HoHo returned, and when asked where Dean Porter was noted that when they got to the cat a kitten…

    ByWayne Willis March 3, 2018April 22, 2023

We broke the Coat & Tie rule. We invited women on campus and triggered co-education at Yale. And now we do it again:  Instead of a boring little reunion book, we will have a large, beautiful, full-color book worthy of us. Check out the pictures of the ClassBook, outside and inside, and learn more about how your Personal Essay will fit in.

How do we top the unalloyed joy of a magnificent upset of the Cantabs in 2016? How about a brilliant 2017 season (9-1) capped with an Ivy Championship, and a delightful drubbing of our hapless nemesis from up north? Your scribe’s white hankie waved with many others in the Bowl, as our long trek through the desert of defeat faded into “mem’ry’s haze.” The Bulldogs are BACK! Here now the news: David Lawrence, via our…
